Supporting A@K
Scholarship Fund
Our founders believe that a student with the desire to attend The Academy at King should have the opportunity to do so and that family financial situations should not be a deterrent. Donations to our Scholarship Fund will help defray tuition costs for students who would not otherwise have the financial resources to attend the school of their choice. Families desiring financial assistance for tuition costs complete an application for aid which is analyzed by a third party. An analysis of the application is done and the level of the family’s ability to pay is determined. A report of the analyses of all applications is sent to The Academy at King and aid is awarded based on need.

Adopt-a-Class Project
The faculty of The Academy at King started this project after seeing firsthand how expensive it can be for our students and their families to purchase textbooks each year. Individuals or businesses can adopt a class by purchasing a set of textbooks for use in that class. You may choose a class that is of particular interest to you or make an unspecified donation. These textbooks will be rented to students each year at a fraction of the purchase price. The book rental fees will go right back into purchasing new textbooks. A sticker will be placed on the inside front cover of each book which will indicate the name of the donor.

Transportation Fund
Parents and Academy staff have volunteered or have been drafted to transport students on field trips, to athletic practice/events, to the YWCA for physical education classes, to King College for science labs, or wherever is needed. The Transportation Fund was established as a repository for funds donated to provide for student transportation to and from school events. Although in the short term these funds will be used to purchase bussing services when needed, ultimately we hope to purchase our own school bus.

Trip Fund
The founders, faculty, and staff of The Academy at King believe that educational travel provides students with opportunities for growth which cannot be experienced in any other way. Travel abroad is an excellent opportunity for Academy students to experience cultures diverse from their own, a chance to widen horizons, and make connections between the school curriculum and the world. Contributions to the Trip Fund will be applied to travel expenses for students needing financial assistance.

The Legacy Society
The Academy at King has established The Legacy Society to recognize individuals who have made planned gifts to The Academy as a way to provide resources for the future of the school. These bequests may take many forms, such as cash, property, or a percentage of the remainder of the estate, and should be discussed in advance with the donor’s financial advisor or attorney. We invite you to join this special group of friends who have included The Academy at King in their estate plans.

Food City Community Cash School Bucks Programs
Everyone needs to eat. This means that every family has to purchase groceries. Food City offers two ways that patrons can purchase groceries and support The Academy at King at the same time. The first program that allows patrons to do this is the Food City Community Cash Program. With this fundraising program, The Academy at King is able to purchase Food City gift cards for a discounted price and then sell these cards to patrons at face value. This allows patrons to get 100% return in grocery items for the money that is spent on the gift cards. The gift cards can be used at any Food City store and are available in denominations of $25, $50, or $100. Food City gift cards make excellent stocking stuffers and employee gifts, too. Call the school or email Sue Melkowski or Linda Kristofek to purchase your Food City gift cards.

Annual Fund
We believe that the educational experiences that The Academy at King provides students are making an impact that will benefit them forever. We know the importance of ensuring that they and our newcomers continue to have this wonderful opportunity and we realize it would not be possible without the generosity of our many donors and friends. The demands of independent education pose ever-increasing challenges. We will continue to focus on student learning and we desire to see our students receive the best educational experience possible.
Like all independent schools, The Academy at King depends on annual tax-deductible contributions from the school community to enhance school programs and curriculum. The money goes to support faculty compensation, technology, extracurricular activities, athletics and maintenance of the building and grounds. We hope that you will consider making a donation to the Annual Fund to help support our school.
A donation to the Annual Fund Campaign is an immediate investment in our children. By participating at a level that is financially comfortable, you will help guarantee that The Academy can provide a generation of students with the knowledge and experiences they will need as they face the challenges of the future.
