Honor and Service

On Our Honor

At the Academy, we view each student as a whole person whose inner life and being demand just as much focus and attention as his or her academic development. Our school honor code states: “As a student at The Academy, I will not lie, cheat or steal. I will not tolerate those who do.”

Upon entering the Academy, students are expected to sign this code, committing themselves to upholding these precepts in all areas of school life.

On written work, students include the following pledge: “On my honor, I promise that I have neither given nor received unauthorized assistance with this assignment.”

Good Citizenship and Service to Others

We believe good citizenship and service to others are also an important part of learning – stressed through our honor code and during normal classroom interactions and learning exercises.

In addition, over the four years of high school, every student is expected to invest at least 100 hours in performing community service tasks. These can be as simple as helping with a school event or as involved as assisting with a disaster relief effort or river cleanup.
