The Academy at King Quick Facts

Status and Governance

We are an independent, college preparatory high school (grades 9 through 12) governed by a board of trustees.

Accreditation and Memberships

As a Category 1 high school, we are approved by the Tennessee Department of Education. We plan to pursue accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the Southern Association of Independent Schools.

Location

Our facilities are located on the 135-acre King College campus in Bristol, Tennessee.

King College Relationship

The Academy at King is a financially independent educational institution with student access to many King College facilities, events and classes.

Student Dress

Although our student dress code does not require uniforms, our standard is appropriate to a positive learning environment.

Curriculum

A Liberal Arts program is the core of our challenging curriculum. Students may also excel through our Advanced Placement courses, dual credit opportunities and international learning experiences.

Service and Citizenship

Students volunteer at least 100 hours during their four years at The Academy at King. Every Academy student commits to uphold our Honor Code; thus, our students pledge not to lie, cheat or steal. Our community encourages responsibility, self-governance and the reporting of those who do not uphold this standard. We are committed to sound principles and Christian values.

Tuition, tuition assistance, and scholarships

As an independent high school, we rely upon tuition revenue and Annual Fund contributions to meet our operating expenses. We have tuition assistance and several merit scholarships available for qualified students.
