Welcome to the website for The Academy at King

The Academy at King is a private, tuition-based, Category I high school serving families in our region. Although King College and The Academy at King are two separate educational and financial entities, King College staff members provided valuable guidance at the start-up of The Academy. Our continued partnership with King College enables us to provide our students with opportunities that we could not otherwise offer. These opportunities are numerous and range from use of the chapel on King’s campus for our first end-of-year ceremony and use of the King College library for research to use of lab spaces for our science classes. The members of the King College community, though, have been our greatest resource from the outset and they continue to offer their support in a variety of ways.

Our goal at The Academy at King is to create an environment where multiple intelligences are valued, study across the disciplines is encouraged, writing and research is a focus in all subject areas and integration of the educational experience is enabled in a way that students have an appreciation for a broad range of subjects, as well as opportunities to develop their individual talents. Our program not only offers students a well-rounded mix of academic experiences and fine arts but also includes day trips to places of educational value in our area, exposure to a wide variety of guest speakers presenting topics ranging from Antarctica to Voting Responsibilities, opportunities to study abroad and other educational and cultural experiences.

We are excited about being in our second year of operation and look forward to working with students, parents, and other members of the community to provide a rewarding high school experience for the children in our region.

Our Honor Code

Honor is at the core of life at The Academy. The Honor Code guides decisions made by students, faculty, and administration. This commitment stems from the realization that, as adolescents grow into adulthood, it is essential that they learn that conducting one’s life with honor leads to healthy and personally fulfilling business, professional and personal relationships.

Our Honor Code states:

As a student at The Academy, I will not lie, cheat, or steal. I will not tolerate those who do.

As a reminder of the importance of honor in one’s academic work, Academy students are required to include the following pledge on written work:

On my honor, I promise that I have neither given nor received unauthorized assistance with this assignment.
